After a rusty start to their campaign, Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) are warming up for one-day races in Turkey.
On Sunday, TSG’s Algerian rider Youcef Reguigui finished sixth in the Grand Prix Gazipasa one-day race.
Teammates, Metkel Eyob, Artem Ovechkin and Goh Choon Huat finished in the same group as Reguigui, while Nur Aiman Zariff and Irwandie Lakasek crossed the line 22 minutes and 16 seconds adrift after putting in their shifts earlier in the race.
Raman Tsishkou (Belaz Belarus) won the 157.6km race in three hours, 48 minutes and 58 seconds with Mamyr Stash (Spor Toto Cycling Team) and Alan Banaszek (Mzowsze Serce Polski) finishing second and third in the sprint finish.
Aiman, who recently rejoined TSG after spending three seasons with Team Sapura Cycling, said the plan was to work for Reguigui in the GP Gazipasa race.
Aiman and Reguigui had both suffered technical issues during the GP Alanya race earlier on Saturday.
Ovechkin, Aiman and Irwandie did not finish.
Eyob, who crossed the line 45th, was the highest-placed TSG rider in the GP Alanya race, which was their first international race in almost a year.
TSG still have another four one-day events to race in Turkey — GP Velo Manavgat (Feb 20), GP Velo Alanya (Feb 21), GP Mediterranean (Mar 6) and GP Gundogmus (March 7).
All six races are UCI1.2 rated events.
